If your original Flymo blade has simply run it's coarse and you need a new one but have never personally fitted a new blade before, this helpful guide will take you through the steps to do it.

The blades on the lawnmower, if maintained and occasionally sharpened, can last for sometime - but eventually the blade will need to be replaced. Folow these 3 Steps when changing Flymo blade:

1. Safety

Please ensure your mower is turned off and disconnected from the mains before attempting to change the blades.

2. Remove the Old Blade

So to start we need to first remove the old, worn blade and to do this you need to use the Flymo spanner. This multi-purpose tool would have come with your lawnmower and is primarily used for unscrewing the bolt which holds the blade in position.

3. Fitting Your New Blade

Whether you have an old style blade or a newer style blade the process remains the same. Its just a simple design update on the blade.

If you notice there will be spacers underneath the blade, this allows for you to raise or lower the blades. It is recommended to use no more than two spacers at one time

So with your spacers and your new blade adjusted, ensure that the flat side of your blade is facing down towards the grass. Then simply insert back in your bolts and begin screwing them tightly. The make sure your blade is completely tightened follow up by using the spanner

Bosch Rotak 34 R 1300W Electric Rotary Lawnmower - Green | ROTAK34R | D.I.D Electrical

Just like the Flymo blades, any Bosch blade will wear overtime and need replacing. The steps are quite similar, below we have detailed just how easy this standard maintenance task is.

1. Safety

Please ensure that you have disconnected the appliance from the mains before starting any repair.

2. Removing the Blade

After the safety precautions are completed you will need to tip your lawnmower in a careful fashion onto its side. This will make it easier for you to begin the process of removing your old blade.

When unscrewing the blade you need to brace it, otherwise it would continually spin as it is connected to the motor spindle. So with your hand protected with a glove or cloth you can now begin to unscrew the bolt with a spanner.

3. Fitting Your New Blade

With the old blade now removed you can replace it with your new blade. Note that when your fitting the blade always follow the instructions on the blade itself. This will state which side of the blade will face the grass. If you cannot find this information just refer back to your old blade.

With the nut in place you can begin to hand screw the blade in place and using a spanner to then finish and tighten the blade. Once the blade is secure you can then tilt the lawnmower back upright. Your garden is now ready again for a good cut.
